5 Great Signs It’s Time to Consider Botox

Here is our handy guide to answering the age-old question; when to get Botox? But first, let’s break down what Botox actually is. Botulinum Toxin (or as we know it) Botox, is a treatment which temporarily paralyses muscles, allowing others to contract and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. But this isn’t its only use, Botox can also relieve the symptoms of excessive sweating, improve the appearance of thin lips and even help people who have involuntary muscle spasms. But we are guessing that you know a little about Botox already. Something we know our patients frequently ask themselves is; when to get Botox!? We at Duo have created a handy 5 step guide to when we think it may be a good idea to come for a consultation. Remember, timing is pretty crucial for optimal results as, when lines get deeper and skin changes as we age, it is less likely that Botox alone will be the best option for you. There is no exact science behind this, but if you have started to notice the following, give us a call. 5 Signs to look out for when considering when to get Botox We’ve all done it, stared into the mirror and realised that we have started to get small lines on our forehead and around our eyes. A fine line would be anything considered to be surface-level but still noticeable. When you raise your eyebrows, can you still see the lines faintly when you lower them again? this would be a fine line. It is important to note that there is little to no way to naturally reduce these without intervention. If you have seen these, it may be a good time to consider Botox. Whilst early intervention is important to offset the appearance of deep-set wrinkles, it also has other benefits, like helping to improve overall skin texture. This is something to keep in mind when considering when to get Botox. 2. Makeup Settles into Wrinkles After applying makeup, if you notice that it is sitting in the wrinkle of your face, this may be the ideal time to consider Botox. This is because it would be considered to be when those wrinkles are at that fine line stage before they become harder to treat. 3. Your Expressions Leave Lasting Marks Ever noticed that when you raise your eyebrows in shock, you can still see the wrinkles which are left behind after you have pulled the expression? Maybe you notice smile lines around your eyes and nose after laughing. This is also a good indication of the perfect time to have a consultation. This is one of the first signs that the wrinkles you are experiencing will become permanent. 4. You’re Approaching a Milestone Age If you are in your late 20s to early 30s, this is your sign to start thinking about Botox. At this age, you may start to see the early signs of your skin changing. Take a look in the mirror, can you see any faint lines? These are likely to get deeper as we age so mid to late 20s- early 30s is usually the best time to consider intervention and prevention. If you don’t have these signs, you can hold off booking to see an aesthetics practitioner. It is worth mentioning here that we can’t stress enough how important preventative treatment can be. When administered correctly, there is little to no evidence that your body will become ‘used’ to Botox and its efficacy will wear off. Want to learn more – take a look here 5. You Feel Self-Conscious About Certain Areas The biggest reason in our opinion when thinking about when to get Botox, is about how you see yourself. Cosmetic treatments are an investment in you. Ageing can feel emotional (just ask anyone who has hit a milestone birthday) but it doesn’t mean you have to feel self-conscious about the way you look. Botox can boost confidence and help you to look as young as you feel. It is worth noting that we at DUO believe that it is our job to help enhance your natural features. We would never suggest a treatment which would make you look unnatural or affect the harmony of your face. So to conclude If any of these sound like you, we think it might be time for you to consider an anti-wrinkle treatment. Polynucleotide Skin Treatment: The Revolution You Need to Know About

You have most likely heard of the latest craze to hit the aesthetics industry; Polynucleotide skin treatment. You have possibly heard that they are created using fish DNA, but what you are less likely to know is exactly how injecting fish sperm into your face is going to help you look younger. It sounds wild, doesn’t it? Let’s dive (pun intended) into how this treatment works, and why it may be a good option for you. The Science Behind Polynucleotide Skin Treatment Essentially, in a nutshell Polynucleotide skin treatment involves injecting or introducing to the skin a serum, a matter (called a Polynucleotide) which helps your own cells increase collagen production, hydration levels and skin’s elasticity. Nurse Ruebsamen said “When Polynucleotides are injected into the skin they expedite the body’s cell regeneration cycle and enhance its repair mechanisms,’ reveals Nurse Ruebsamen.” womenshealthmag But what does this have to do with fish? This substance comes from the DNA of salmon or trout sperm (which is really close to that of humans). The fish DNA has the ability to replicate natural signals occurring in our bodies. So what is the Polynucleotide, in Polynucleotide skin treatment? Polynucleotides are something called a biostimulator, which means they help your body to naturally produce collagen (in cells known as fibroblasts) which we have more of naturally when we are young, hence it being used in anti-ageing treatments. By increasing your body’s natural ability to produce collagen, increase elastin and hydration levels, you can see a reduction in wrinkles and fine lines and an improvement in your skin’s elasticity. Turning Back Time: How do we use Polynucleotide skin treatment in clinic? We have several ways in which we can offer this treatment to you in clinic. Polynucleotide skin treatment: Injectable treatments One of the most popular ways in which we can treat the signs of ageing using Polynucleotides is by injecting them directly into problem areas such as the face and under the eyes. We appreciate that this might sound a little daunting however rest assured, we make sure to numb you thoroughly before treatment to allow you to have a comfortable and relaxing experience. This has proved to be a really popular treatment in clinic. Polynucleotide skin treatment: Serum administered with Microneedling Another popular method of administering Polynucleotides is through a serum which can be used in congruence with Microneedling (another hit treatment in clinic at the moment). During this process, microtrauma is delivered to the face through the use of small needles. The Polynucleotide serum is then added to the face. Once again we use numbing cream in this treatment to help you to feel as comfortable as possible. Here is Hayley to tell us more! Why might Polynucleotide skin treatment be a good option for you? This is a great option for you if you are looking for an alternative treatment to filler. Filler certainly can help with areas which are hollowed but it does not promote your body to naturally fight the signs of ageing, rather by adding a substance to your skin. If you are looking for a more natural treatment path, then Polynucleotides might just be the perfect option for you to try. We usually suggest three sessions of treatment to kick-start your production. Some of our patients have seen progress after their first session, but ideally, the full course is needed to see your desired results. Each session comes in at around £190 depending on the nurse you see. Think you would like to know more about our Polynucleotide skin treatment? Enquire with us today Book Here

What is the Botox Eyebrow Lift?

Have you heard of the Botox Eyebrow Lift? You may have heard of Botox being used to treat wrinkles on the forehead, this isn’t anything new. But have you ever heard of it being used as a non-surgical eyebrow lift? That’s correct! We can actually carefully pinpoint injection points areas around your eyebrows which when injected with Botox, create a naturally lifted look. With a procedure that is minimally invasive, really quick and relatively pain-free, a Botox eyebrow lift is a great option for anyone who wishes to achieve subtle opening of the eye and brow area. Whilst there are a few surgical options for raising the eyebrows, often our patients don’t want to drastically change their appearance, opting for a more subtle and natural change. This is where using Botox comes in. So let’s discover; How does a Botox eyebrow lift work? Is it the best option for me? What happens at my appointment? How do I book in? So how does the Botox eyebrow lift work? In essence, when we age, the muscles around our eyes and eyebrows pull downwards, making us look older. (Other factors such as our bone structure and skin quality do come into play also.) You may not know but Botox (or its technical name Botulinum Toxin – hence ‘Bo-Tox’) is a neuromodulator. By injecting it into these muscles, we can relax them. The muscles that control our frown and eye movement are know as ‘depressor’ muscles which means when contracted they pull downwards. When inject Botox into these ‘depressor’ muscles they no longer can pull downwards but relax and open, therefore a lift is achieved. Note: we will never be able to freeze your forehead and lift your brows as your your forehead works in the opposite fashion as elevates your brows, we need to leave that action well alone if we want to lift! This lift will last for a similar amount of time as Botox in all other areas, around three to four months. After this time a repeat treatment would be advisable. In turn, the treatment can help to smooth out wrinkles and signs of ageing to give a natural, more youthful look. Is the Botox eyebrow lift the best option for me? Why should I have a Botox eyebrow lift… Why I can’t have a Botox eyebrow lift… What happens at my Botox eyebrow lift appointment? Before my treatment Before the treatment, you will have an in-depth consultation with our expert medically trained nurses. They will assess your skin type and whether you would be viable for a brow lift in this way. As Botox needs to be prescribed, you would need to have this appointment, before your treatment. During this appointment our nurses will listen to your desired results and make suggestions on how we can work together to achieve them. Our nurses will never suggest a treatment for you that they do not think will work. Rest assured that they will do all they can to help guide you in your decision-making. During my treatment During the procedure, our nurses will take time to mark up the injection sites. They will assess where will be best to inject to achieve the desired results. The nurse will then make a number of small injections around the eyebrow and frown area. These are relatively pain-free, similar to Botox injections in the forehead. (or an eyebrow hair pluck) After Aftercare for the Botox eyebrow lift is fairly simple, the same as with all our Botox treatments. You may notice some mild swelling around the injection sites. This should start to go down after the first few hours or days after your treatment. As always, our expert nurses will explain thoroughly what to do after your treatment. You will also have access to our emergency hotline should you need to speak to someone after. Think you are ready to try a Botox eyebrow lift?
